We somehow managed to log another 54 miles of hiking and biking this week because, honestly, how could you not when you’re surrounded by nature’s ultimate playground? Between trails that look right out of a movie and sunsets that belong on postcards, resisting adventure in Sedona is nearly impossible.
To make things even better, our friends rolled into town after their own epic Grand Canyon adventure, still slightly covered in dust. Naturally, we had to show them the local highlights—starting with the mystical Subway Cave and a quick scramble to the Keyhole Cave right from our condo. After they headed out, we kept the momentum going and tackled the infamous Hangover Trail on foot. And after seeing that terrain firsthand, I’m convinced anyone who rides a bike there is either fearless… or just a little bit nuts.
Of course, we couldn’t skip a few classic Sedona rides ourselves. That included yet another couple spins from the condo and then yet another weekend jaunt in charming Flagstaff because apparently, we still dont know what rest days are.
But Sedona isn’t just trails and tire tracks! This week took a beautiful turn when we met Robert, a flutist we stumbled upon during an off-trail wander. Picture this: deep red rocks, the soft hum of the wind, and a man appearing out of nowhere to play an impromptu concert on a handmade flute. It was equal parts spiritual and surreal. (Yes, we have video proof.)
Later in the week, we hiked up Sugarloaf Summit just in time to catch the sunset, watching the landscape transform into a glowing, fiery dreamscape. It was one of those rare pauses where you forget time exists.
To wrap up the week, we traded dusty shoes for mindfulness at the Sedona Mago Lantern Festival. It was pure meditative mindfulness. Over 200 people meditating, drumming, and dining together under a velvet sky sprinkled with stars. The night ended as glowing lanterns drifted across the pond, carrying wishes and calm into the crisp desert air.
After a week that mixed adventure, music, and just a dash of enlightenment, we couldn’t have scripted a better ending to the week. Sedona, you're an overachiever, you keep exceeding expectations!
