Overdue Update: Friends, Canyons, Bikes and Aurora Magic

Okay, so it’s been awhile. I apparently thought blogging once a week would be an easy goal, but as it turns out, life on the move doesn’t leave much room for slowing down and reflecting. To actually capture and share experiences as a nomad, you’ve got to be intentional about it.

It’s been almost a month since my last post, and judging by the mountain of photos on my phone, it’s been a busy one. The trail of epic snapshots has become my breadcrumb trail reminders of all the amazing things we’ve packed into our days.

To wrap up October, we were still soaking in Sedona’s surprisingly warm and colorful fall. We spent plenty of time on bikes and hiking trails. Katie discovered her new favorite ride a trail lovingly called Llama. It’s a bit technical, with one loose, rocky downhill that left her grinning ear to ear on our first ride. On our second attempt, she crushed the trail again… until a last-minute crash sent her flying just over a cactus. Somehow she landed laughing her good spirits completely intact and only a couple of scrapes.

Beyond biking, we explored Sedona by foot, hiking to the Birthing Cave, wandering the scenic Mescal trail, and getting yet another dose of fall colors at the West Fork of Oak Creek.

Then November arrived along with a stream of visitors! Apparently people took us seriously when we said, “the door’s always open.” A few adventurous friends showed up ready to see what Sedona was all about, and naturally, that meant biking until our legs gave out. Both visitors tackled Sedona’s best trails back-to-back, capped off with recovery shakes and celebratory drinks at the local brewery.

To mix it up, we took a side trip to Lake Powell, where we paddle-boarded into Antelope Canyon and explored the famous slot canyon by water. Six hours round trip in the car, but totally worth it — an unforgettable day.

And as if that weren’t enough, Sedona surprised us once more with the northern lights! We hiked into the wilderness after dark to get a better vantage point and captured some incredible photos of the aurora dancing over the red rocks.

Now, with only a week left here, we’re starting to reflect on this chapter though that’s a story for another post. For now, we’re focusing on squeezing in every last bit of adventure: a trip to the Grand Canyon, a wolf encounter, a few more bike rides, and maybe one final night of live music and good beer.

Till next time... also dont forget to see all our photos!
